Halikounas

Halikounas is a large beach, sandy shore about 4 kilometers long on the south-western shore of Corfu. It is one of the most impressive beaches of the island as this large, sandy shore extends along Lake Korission, separating the lake from the sea. Halikounas beach together with it’s Korission Lake is consisted to be protected by Natura organisation. Therefore beach is unaltered even by tourism. Lake Korission, moreover, is the most significant wetland of the whole island and it is a preserved area. In the surrounding area extends a dense forest full of impressive cedar-trees which is happed to be the only on in Grecee at its size.

Halikounas beach is well known to surfers and for those who Kite surf due to the strong winds blowing in the area. It is never crowded even though it is one of the most popular shores of the island. The beach is accessible by car with many parking lots available.
